Troubleshooting Common Issues
"SMOG can't be opened because it's from an unidentified developer"
This is a common macOS security message. Here's how to fix it:
- 1. Right-click (or Control+click) on SMOG.app in your Applications folder
- 2. Select "Open" from the context menu
- 3. Click "Open" in the security dialog that appears
- 4. SMOG will now launch and this message won't appear again

DMG file won't open or mount
- • Make sure the download completed fully (check file size)
- • Try downloading again if the file appears corrupted
- • Restart Finder and try opening the DMG again
- • Check if you have enough disk space available
SMOG doesn't appear in the menu bar
- • Check if SMOG is actually running in Activity Monitor
- • Try quitting SMOG completely and relaunching it
- • Make sure your menu bar isn't hidden or full
- • Restart your Mac and launch SMOG again
