A major Smog desktop experience update
We redesigned the desktop experience to make Smog clearer, smoother, and easier to use during interviews and meetings. This update brings a consistent interface across every workspace, smarter context preparation, new AI providers, and dozens of reliability improvements.
A more cohesive workspace
- A unified visual system across Listen, Ask, Vision, Notes, Settings, and system windows, with improved spacing, contrast, sizing, and animations.
- Secondary panels now stay attached to their parent window, respect its height, and provide clearer visual feedback when redocked.
- The redesigned HUB makes active tools easier to identify and includes a discreet indicator while Listen is running.
- Opacity can now be adjusted progressively from Settings or with keyboard shortcuts.
Listen and Context
- Listen now has a redesigned control bar, clearer Ready, Listening, and Paused states, a refined audio visualizer, and controls that remain visible while scrolling.
- Transcript, Context, History, and Translation have been reorganized with clearer navigation, empty states, transitions, and conversation history.
- The new optional Context assistant can collect a resume, public LinkedIn profile, preferences, and missing details through natural conversation and quick choices.
- Smog only shows Apply when the context is ready and presents a clean final summary before the Listen session begins.
Ask and Vision
- Ask has a more compact conversation interface, improved streaming scroll behavior, restored user and AI history, and clearer Ready, Thinking, and Responding states.
- You can now choose between GPT, Claude Fast, and Claude Advanced, with the selected provider remembered in your preferences.
- Lifetime members can access the dashboard to configure personal API keys, while unavailable Free models now show a direct Upgrade action.
- Vision introduces clearer Capturing, Analyzing, and Responding states, improved automatic behavior controls, and a cleaner response history.
A new Notes workspace
- Notes now opens in a larger workspace with dedicated All, Favorites, Archived, and Calendar sections and a grid view by default.
- Create or import notes, edit titles, content, and metadata directly, and rely on automatic saving while you work.
- New quick actions make it easier to detach, export, archive, or delete a note.
- Filters, sorting, tags, pagination, and real dates, times, and durations have all been improved.
Settings, onboarding, and system windows
- Settings is larger and easier to navigate, with a dedicated Account section, icon tooltips, and scrolling limited to the main content area.
- Sign in, Permissions, and Update windows now share a clearer and more consistent design.
- The tutorial has been rebuilt around the current Listen, Ask, Vision, Notes, and HUB experiences, with updated demonstrations and smoother internal scrolling.
- Tutorial windows can no longer be moved or closed accidentally, and the final step now includes an interactive Smog card.
Reliability and localization
- Translations have been refreshed across all supported languages.
- Native window synchronization, docking, resizing, scrolling, quotas, Lifetime plans, and personal API key handling are more reliable.
- Right-click and developer-inspector shortcuts are disabled in public builds.
Connect your own Claude API key
Lifetime members can now securely connect an Anthropic API key from their account to use Claude models. Smog validates and encrypts the key, while billing and spending limits stay under their control in the Anthropic dashboard.
Manage your Claude API key →Two-factor authentication
Enable 2FA from your account settings for an extra layer of security — TOTP or backup codes, with a verification step at sign-in.
Manage 2FA in your account →Guide: connecting your own OpenAI API key
Lifetime members can now follow a step-by-step guide to bring their own OpenAI API key instead of using the built-in plan.
