How to install?

Follow these simple steps to get Smog AI up and running

    Download the .dmg file from the button above

  2. 2

    Open the downloaded file

  3. 3

    Drag Smog AI to your Applications folder

  4. 4

    Launch Smog AI from Applications

  5. 5

    Grant microphone and screen recording access

Permissions issue?

If microphone or screen sharing permissions block questions from appearing (or only capture other voices), follow the permissions guide to fix it. See the permissions steps.

Everything about Smog’s setup, support, and account in one place.

Yes. Smog renders as a protected overlay: people on your call (and screen recordings) can’t see it.
Yes. Panels are translucent by design so you keep full context of what’s behind.

Smog runs on macOS 14.2 or later.

Supported Macs:

  • Apple Silicon (M1, M2, M3, M4…)
  • Intel Macs — only if they can run macOS 14.2+

The Smog interface and your content (messages, transcripts, notes) are stored locally on your device.

When you use AI features (summaries, answers, notes), Smog sends only the minimal text needed to secure cloud models:

  • Only the required request content is transmitted.
  • Requests are not stored on our side.
Yes. You can move panels across displays (even when another app is full-screen) and keep them always-on-top.
Yes. Any panel can be popped out, repositioned, and docked back to the hub when you’re done.

Smog comes with a few essential shortcuts you can customize:

  • Quick Hide – instantly hide or show Smog.
  • Push-to-Ask – hold to ask the AI a question on the fly.
  • Start / Stop Listen – toggle live transcription.
  • Toggle Vision – enable or disable screen analysis.

You can configure all shortcuts in Settings → Shortcuts.
